THE OLD MANOR

The Old Manor is a Grade II listed dwelling which was suffering from extensive timber decay and Deathwatch beetle attack. The intention was to use as little intervention as possible to any valuable historic fabric, with the aim of the repairs to reinstate the dwelling as a breathable, healthy dwelling, preserving the historic element.

Whilst the repair works were to be carried out it was also proposed that a new single-storey glass extension was to added to the rear of the property.

The proposed extension was designed to be sympathetic to the existing dwelling, using oak frame to provide structure, and minimising the impact on the dwelling through the use of a glazed link. The extension is intended to be lightweight, in order to not impose on the dwelling and provide legibility between the historic house and the contemporary extension.
